Proverbs

My mom used to say, "No news is good news," and I never understood the proverb. I assumed it meant that all news is bad news: that there is no news of any kind that can ever be good. I assume this makes me a cynic and a pessimist, except that I figured out a personal hack that taught me to go on and have fun and find love knowing that everything pretty much sucks. Because what choice do we have except give in to the nothingness? But recently I read that the real meaning of the proverb is less dire: that not hearing bad news means you can assume the news is good. Perhaps not much of a difference, but it's something. There is news every day, news ever hour, every minute, every second. I hope there is some good news today. I'd love to hear it.
